2022 Galveston Trip(7/29/2022 - 7/31/2022)
|
Brian and Katherine travelled from Austin, Texas to Galveston, Texas a few days from July 29th, 2022 - July 31st, 2022. We went with Fachon and Thomas.
Here are some pictures. You can click on any photo for a higher resolution picture! That is the original.
In the screenshot below, you can see the route we drove tracked by my Garmin InReach GPS with a breadcrumb trail. The middle stop was at: https://goo.gl/maps/bPJc5idyKSr7drLcA to see Fachon and Thomas's home.
The panorama below is the inside of the AirBnB we stayed at. The listing is here: https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/387650132 and the location is here on a map: https://goo.gl/maps/s31pK5BgYN6pUJuD8 Address: 4418 Avenue R, Galveston, TX 77550. I think the host does a really great job. Coffee machine, beach towels, even waffle maker and waffle mix came with the place which was super convenient so we didn't need to leave the AirBnB for breakfast. It was exceptionally clean.
The backyard of the AirBnB we stayed at.
The AirBnB came with waffle mix that you only had to add water, and a very nice waffle maker, and syrup. We provided the whipped cream and strawberries. :-)
After breakfast we headed toward the beach in an Uber.
Below is a picture where we stopped at "Pleasure Pier" in Galveston, Texas. It has a few carnival rides and a couple places to eat, worth wandering by just to see it.
The entrance to Pleasure Pier.
Below is Thomas (in the shirt with the "9"), Fachon in front of him, and Katherine with the visor.
A picture of the rides area, but we didn't pay to enter (it was like $10).
Below is a picture of one of the many "Duck Tours" that we saw.
Next we headed to "The Strand" in Galveston, Texas. It is an older historic area with shopping and tons of places to eat. We are here: https://goo.gl/maps/ED6TGeyhQ6G5YF5t8
I saw this "Trump Desantis Take America Back Again 2024" flag flying on the back of a golf cart in "The Strand" area and thought it was interesting.
In the place we stopped for lunch, there was this advertisement for food in the bathroom.
The next morning we had brunch at "The Spot" in Galveston, Texas.
This is the view from our table.
The picture below is the inside of one of the 5 or 6 bars and restaurants all clustered together here at "The Spot".
Same location, a panorama taken with my iPhone of the long beach here, with the "Pleasure Pier" off to the far left. The strange looking short cars in the photo is just an artifact of the cars moving while I took the panorama.
Same location, facing towards "Pleasure Pier".
In the screenshot below you can see the route we took home from Galveston. If you click on the picture you can see it took about 3.5 hours to drive.
That's it! That's all the pictures. All done!
