Start the day at Hotel Planinka, in Zgornje Zezersko, Slovenia.

This is the hotel with some of the motorcycles lined up outside and the van that hauls the luggage.

On a motorcycle you shift "up" by putting your left big toe under a lever and pulling up.  On these trips, I'm careful to watch for blisters, and in the morning "tape up" to prevent blisters.  Ten thousand times a day in the alps you shift up and then down again.  This morning (the third morning) I decided it was time for the tape.

Donna Beker on the left, Graham Beker on the right.  Donna and Graham have worked on these tours before for years, but this time they were along as customers.  They are both incredibly experienced motorcycle riders, originally from New Zealand.

Gassing up in Slovenia, we spend 6 thousand 6 hundred Slovenian "somethings" to fill up 3 motorcycles with gas.  :-)

Below is a castle we visited in Slovenia.  This is the Predjama Castle.

Inside the Predjama Castle, you can see how it is built in and among the natural rock walls.

A stairway in the Predjama Castle, in a natural cavern.

At a DIFFERENT castle, Brian Beach and I stopped for coffee.  This castle was on a dimple of a hill surrounded by flat farmland.  The panorama below is from our seat in the cafe in the castle.

And now we enter Croatia.

We stayed in the town of Opatija in Croatia, on the coast.  This is from a hill leading into the town.

The day of May 28 was an "off day" (not a riding day) so 5 of us from the tour hired a powerboat with a captain and tooled around the islands.  From left to right below, Julie Bursi, Larry Hopkins, and Barry Lauder.

The wake from our boat, a 35 foot Bayliner.

Our captain, a really nice local Croatian man, this is his private boat.

The shore (including our hotel we stayed in).

We ducked under this bridge.

Circling the bridge.

We stopped at this island for ice cream.

Stopped at the island.

Coming home to Opatija.

Leaving the hotel Millennium the next morning.

Breakfast out on the patio at the hotel Millennium in Opatija.

In this day (May 29th) the weather wasn't great, and here we stopped to warm up.  We ordered "cocoa" and the waitress asked "white" or "black" and we got white, which was VERY thick.  Bruce on the left, Barry, and Brian Beach.

After white cocoa, getting saddled up.

This is taken on the Croatian road leading down into the island of "Rab" where we spent the next night.

Same road, a little closer down.  Brian Beach on his motorcycle.

We caught a ferry to Rab Island.

Shot from the ferry.

Here is our hotel and the van on Rab Island.  Hotel Padova.

We had to shuttle to dinner due to a slight screwup in transportation, and here we are piling into the van on top of the luggage.  That's Dr. Don (Don Toothman) on the upper left, upper right is Richard, and Brian Beach lower right.
